Active vs. Passive EMF Protection: Can a Non-Powered Device Truly Impact an Entire Room?
Passive EMF protection products without their own power cannot establish a dominant, coherent signal across a whole room because they lack an internal power source, timing control, and the ability to maintain a structured reference signal independent of the constantly changing ambient electromagnetic environment. Instead, they only interact locally in the near field, whereas powered, dynamic signaling systems can emit a consistent reference that biology can respond to more reliably.
The electromagnetic spectrum is a description and categorization of the many variations of electromagnetic radiation, and organizes these variations by their frequency, wavelength, sources that generate them, and their practical uses. Electromagnetic radiation is created anytime that an electric field (produced by charged particles such as electrons and protons) consistently oscillates (moves back and forth), which automatically generates a magnetic field. This occurs the other way around, also, as an oscillating magnetic field will create a corresponding electric field. This electromagnetic radiation moves directionally as waves that radiate outwards and have various lengths, and the length of the waves (wavelength) determines the frequency.
The lower the frequency, the longer the wavelength. Frequency is measured in hertz (Hz), which means “cycles per second”, referring to how long it takes for the wave to move through a full wave cycle and return to the same point on a plane as where it started. The more cycles per second (higher frequencies), the shorter the wavelength.
As an example, extremely low frequency (ELF) radio waves are used in high-voltage AC power lines at 60 Hz, and each one of these wavelengths is 6,000 kilometers long! Then on the high end of the radio wave band are the microwaves, some of which have frequencies around 300 gigahertz (GHz), which has a wavelength of just 1 millimeter.
These millimeter waves are the higher end of the 5G (5th Generation cellular technology) spectrum, which we will discuss more later.
All transverse (versus longitudinal) electromagnetic waves travel at the speed of light (minus obstructions). Actually, electromagnetic radiation IS light! Light is just a different term that can be used to describe EM radiation. We don’t usually use that term for it, as we use light to describe the very small portion of the EM spectrum that we can see with our eyes. Within the electromagnetic spectrum, that small portion is referred to as visible light. We cannot see the vast majority of the EM spectrum, but all of it technically is light, as it consists of photons that move energy.
We can also feel some kinds of EM radiation as heat, especially in the infrared, visible light and ultraviolet bands, but certainly others as well.
The sound we hear with our ears is not technically electromagnetic, but is produced by mechanical vibrations. They are mechanical waves, with their own frequencies and wavelengths. They are still frequencies, but with different properties, and are generally purely longitudinal waves (not the transverse electromagnetic waves of the EM spectrum). Human ears cannot hear the full spectrum of sound waves, but the sound is still produced and many animals and insects are able to hear the lower and higher frequencies on the sound spectrum. With all that said, sound is not part of the EM spectrum, but it deserves a mention because it is a form of frequency – one of the few that our bodies can perceive, in addition to light and heat!
Frequencies are everywhere, all around us all the time, whether or not we can perceive them with our senses. Just because we can’t perceive them doesn’t mean they aren’t affecting us. Our bodies are highly tuned electrochemical systems, and our cells perceive and respond to the entire electromagnetic spectrum, even frequency bands that are completely invisible, inaudible and undetectable to our five senses.
Let’s move into the different subranges of the electromagnetic spectrum. These ranges were named and categorized only for the sake of understanding the different properties and uses as you move up and down the spectrum. The truth is that they are all contiguous frequencies with the same basic properties and functions, with boundaries that overlap considerably.
Radio waves
Radio waves generally fall within a wide frequency spectrum, from 3 kilohertz (kHz) to 300 gigahertz (GHz). You can imagine how wide this range is: a frequency of 3 kHz has a wavelength that’s 100 kilometers long! In contrast, a 300 GHz frequency’s wavelength is only 1 millimeter. There are lower frequencies that are sometimes considered part of the radio frequency spectrum, such as 60 Hz high-voltage power lines, but generally radio frequency refers to the portion of the spectrum that radios, TVs, mobile communication devices, and radar use to broadcast information through space without using wires.
Natural forms of radio waves include the Schumann resonance of the Earth, which generates frequencies in the ELF (extremely low frequency) range of around 7.83 Hz to 33.8 Hz. There are objects in space, including the Sun, Jupiter, and certain types of stars, that emit radio waves which often reach into the Earth’s atmosphere, since the radio frequency spectrum moves in and out of the atmosphere fairly easily (compared to most of the EM spectrum). Lightning storms also generate natural radio waves. We have evolved with this symphony of frequencies, and the subtle variance of many different frequencies at different amplitudes that these natural elements produce is usually healthy for human bodies and other living organisms.
Artificial (manmade) forms of radio waves include AM radio, FM radio, TV, cell phones/cell towers, Wifi, “Smart” meters and “Smart” home devices. While these are within the same frequency spectrum as natural sources of radio waves, they have a considerably different structure. Each signal generally fixates on one frequency, and repeats that frequency over and over again, 24/7. We will talk more later about how this difference is a primary cause of the stress that these manmade EMF sources put on our bodies.
AM and FM radio have different ways of delivering their audio information. AM means “amplitude modulated” and FM means “frequency modulated”. When radio frequencies are broadcasted, there are several ways the base signal can be modulated to carry information. When AM radio broadcasts the signal of a certain station, that station will have a base frequency that remains constant, which is indicated in the name of the channel, i.e. a channel called “1280 AM” has a base frequency of 1280 kilohertz (kHz). While the frequency remains the same, the amplitude of the carrier signal will be modulated, which becomes the audio that you hear when you tune into the station.
FM radio is pretty much the opposite. The amplitude of the carrier signal remains constant, while the frequency varies intricately around one base frequency. An FM radio station called “95.6 FM” uses a base frequency of 95.6 megahertz (MHz), with frequency variations that occur above and below to a small degree. The FM radio stations have to be further apart in base frequency to allow these variations, but it’s a more accurate way to carry nuanced information, making FM radio a better delivery system for good quality musical output. AM is primarily used for talk radio, due to the lower quality of the sound transmission.
AM radio is between 540 and 1600 kHz, while FM radio occurs between 88 and 108 MHz. TV broadcasting is in a larger frequency spectrum that starts between the AM and FM range, with the high end being higher than FM radio. TV uses a combination of amplitude and frequency modulation, to carry both visual information (AM) and audio information (FM).
Microwaves (high end of the radio wave spectrum)
Microwaves are the high end of the radio wave spectrum, but we’ll give them their own section because manmade microwave radiation sources are increasing exponentially each decade, and they’re especially relevant to the subject of EMF protection. They have also been the subject of a large percentage of the studies done on the harms that electromagnetic fields have on biology.
The microwave part of the spectrum could be defined as anywhere between 300 MHz (one meter wavelength) and 300 GHz (one millimeter wavelength). Contained within this range of frequencies is all the bustling activity of the electronic communications devices all over the world. This includes radar, cell phones/cell towers, Wifi routers, “smart” meters, “smart” home devices (such as baby monitors, wireless doorbells, ovens/toasters that connect to the internet, etc). It also includes the microwave ovens that many people still use to cook or heat up food, due to the ability of microwave frequencies to dramatically accelerate electrons in food and water, which has a rapid heating effect.
The term “microwaves” just means they are smaller than the waves of radio broadcasting, not that they are in the micrometer range. Microwaves are used by communications devices because the higher the frequency, the more information you can transmit per unit of time on that carrier signal. Much more complex and nuanced information can be carried at a frequency of 6 GHz, compared to 600 MHz. The downside is that the higher you go on the frequency spectrum, the harder it is for that signal to move around objects that are directly between the source and the destination, such as a building or tree between a cell tower and any given cell phone.
This is why a 3G or 4G cell tower can reach cell phones very far away, and be relatively unphased by obstructions within its path; the wavelength is long enough to move around obstructions more easily. A 5G signal, on the other hand, which may have wavelengths that are only a centimeter or even just a millimeter long, will be instantly blocked by small obstructions such as trees. For these higher frequencies with larger loads of information to reach their destination devices, there need to be enough towers and antennas to transmit or relay the signal, considering obstructions. This requires infrastructure densification, or basically having to place antennas every 300 feet or less to maintain consistent 5G availability in a given area. It can even mean having to place 5G “small cell” antennas inside of buildings, as the signal can have difficulty moving through walls! A much different situation than just needing one large cell tower every few miles.
Microwave radiation can be divided into 3 categories: Extremely High Frequency (EHF), Ultra High Frequency (UHF) and Very High Frequency (VHF). EHF is also called millimeter waves, and range between 30 and 300 GHz. This is where the more intense higher 5G frequencies fall, which are not yet in common use in most places, but will likely be needed to achieve the “driverless car” level of the 5G vision. The UHF range can be called the centimeter range, as its 3 to 30 GHz wavelengths are between 1 and 10 centimeters long. Wifi, radar, microwave ovens, and satellite communications are within this range. The VHF range includes Wifi, 4G cell phones and towers, cordless phones, walkie talkies, some TV broadcasting and satellite communications, and many other applications. VHF is the “decimeter band”, which is between 10 centimeters and one meter, and consists of frequencies between 300 MHz and 3 GHz.
Most Wifi frequencies are around 2.4 GHz, but many companies are also now using a 5 GHz signal to improve speed and data transmission. If you see a Wifi connection on your phone, you may see the name of the network, then another option that’s the name of the network with “5G” at the end. This means 5 gigahertz, and is not the same 5G that refers to 5th generation wireless technology. That said, a lot of the current 5G cell deployments are close to the same frequencies as 5 GHz Wifi, and the 6 GHz to 24 GHz bands are currently being widely used for 5G.
Radar is another common application of microwaves. Radar systems use microwave echoes to determine the distance to a wide variety of objects, from clouds to aircraft. It can determine the speed of moving objects or the intensity of weather fluctuations.
Infrared light
When we move past the millimeter waves of the most intense microwave radiation around 300 GHz, we approach the terahertz (THz) range, and this is where the infrared waves reside. Infrared is most commonly known for its heat production. The heat that our bodies produce is a form of infrared radiation. 49% of the heat from the Sun is from its infrared rays. In fact, most objects and environments that we interact with produce infrared radiation! Objects and living organisms, including the Earth itself, absorb infrared radiation from the Sun, then re-radiate infrared into the environment. Thermography, via infrared cameras and other equipment, can be used to detect and “see” heat-emitting life forms where there is little to no visible light.
There are 3 categories of infrared radiation, with different properties and uses. Far infrared has the longest wavelengths, and exists from 300 GHz to 30 THz. Far infrared somewhat overlaps with the microwave frequency spectrum. Certain portions of this sub-millimeter range are used for astronomy. Mid infrared is from 30 to 120 THz. Human skin and fingerprints radiate in the lower end of this spectrum, as well as other hot objects. Near infrared is from 120 to 400 THz, and is the closest infrared frequency to visible red light, although its wavelengths are still just outside the human eyesight perception range. One wavelength in the near infrared range can be as small as 750 nanometers (nm)!
Near infrared in the 700 to 1000 nm range can be used for medical and therapeutic healing purposes, alone or in combination with the visible red light spectrum. Infrared and red light have similar effects on the mitochondria of our cells, by increasing energy (ATP) generation at the cellular level. Red light is more beneficial for skin surfaces, as it does not penetrate further than 25 millimeters. Near infrared will penetrate more deeply, allowing therapeutic treatment deeper into tissue, potentially even into bone and internal organs if the infrared light source is strong enough. Many studies point to a wide range of potential uses and benefits of red and infrared light therapy, including skin conditions, anti-aging, regulating hormones and glands, improving oral and dental health, stimulating metabolism/weight loss, stimulating collagen production (for healthy skin and hair growth), treating arthritis, and more.
As with all therapeutic uses of electromagnetic fields, less is more, and although infrared and red light therapy is generally regarded as safe and beneficial, too much of a good thing can be bad since it will expose your body to repetitive EMFs. This chronic repetition will stimulate your cells too much in the same way, canceling out the therapeutic benefits. Red/infrared light therapy sessions are usually 5-15 minutes at a time, usually no more than once per day.
Visible light
As we stated earlier, the entire electromagnetic spectrum is light, but our eyes can only detect a very small portion of this spectrum. This relatively tiny portion is referred to as Visible Light. Each color vibrates at a different frequency, and subtle changes in the frequency will produce different shades of each color. Red is at the lowest frequencies, with the longest wavelengths, just beyond the infrared spectrum. Orange is a slightly higher frequency, then yellow, green, and blue. Violet is the highest frequency of all visible light, with the shortest wavelengths. Red wavelengths are between 620 and 750 nanometers long, while violet wavelengths are only 380 to 450 nanometers.
Most radiation in the electromagnetic spectrum is blocked by the Earth’s atmospheric gases, so very little radiation from space will reach the Earth’s surface. There is a small window that corresponds closely to the Visible Light range, called the optical window, that refers to a spectrum of frequencies that can pass through the atmosphere with little to no attenuation (weakening). A large percentage of the heat from Sun is from the visible light spectrum. The comparatively warm and mild temperatures on the Earth’s surface are due to visible light from the Sun passing through the optical window of the atmosphere, which is absorbed by the surface of the Earth and re-radiated as infrared heat. Infrared does not easily pass through the atmosphere, so this heat gets trapped inside, which results in the moderate temperatures we enjoy here on Earth, compared to the temperature extremes in outer space.
Ultraviolet (UV)
Beyond visible light, past the range of perception of human eyesight, is ultraviolet radiation. These frequencies are invisible to humans, but visible to a number of insects and birds. The ultraviolet (UV) light we are exposed to on Earth comes from the Sun, but the vast majority of UV rays from the Sun are blocked by the Earth’s atmosphere. UV radiation wavelengths range between 10 nm to 400 nm. Most ultraviolet is classified as non-ionizing radiation, but the 10-120 nm range of “extreme” ultraviolet” reaches the ionizing spectrum of radiation, where the photon energy is high enough to split atoms, causing cell damage and cell death. Ionizing ultraviolet is completely blocked by oxygen in the Earth’s atmosphere. Most of the non-ionizing ultraviolet is blocked by oxygen or ozone. When the Sun is at its highest point in the sky in the afternoon, after atmospheric filtration only 3% of its rays are ultraviolet, which decreases even more when the Sun is at lower angles! UV has powerful effects on biology. When it comes in contact with human skin, it’s solely responsible for production of steroid hormone (“vitamin”) D. Vitamin D is vital for healthy nervous system function, bone growth and bone density, immunity, cell proliferation, insulin secretion and blood pressure regulation.
Ultraviolet light is powerful, and although it’s non-ionizing, UV photons contain enough energy to alter chemical bonds in atoms. It can do more damage to biological molecules than can be accounted for by simple heating effects. Moderate exposure to UV from sunlight can give us a rosy glow, improve the quality of our blood and our overall health, and can give us a suntan. Overexposure to UV rays results in sunburn, from the high energy UV photons causing damage to our skin cells. Consistent overexposure to UV rays can result in permanent damage to the skin, which can even result in skin cancer.
X-rays & gamma rays
The high end of the ultraviolet spectrum is when radiation becomes energetic enough to be considered ionizing. These powerful photons have enough energy to ionize atoms and disrupt chemical bonds, which in too strong of a dose (or with chronic exposure to lower doses) will harm living tissue.
X-rays and gamma rays have the highest frequencies and shortest wavelengths of the electromagnetic spectrum. They are generally measured and quantified using different terminology than the lower parts of the spectrum. It’s rare to hear ionizing radiation referred to in terms of hertz and wavelength size, and more universal to measure it in photon energy units, aka electron volts (eV).
X-rays and gamma rays have similar photon energies, and although gamma rays are often at higher frequencies than x-rays, the range overlaps considerably. Some x-rays have much higher frequencies than some forms of gamma rays. The difference between the two is primarily their structure and source. X-ray frequencies originate from the electrons of an atom, whereas gamma rays originate from the nucleus.
Both penetrate deeply into tissue, which can be extraordinarily harmful to the body, but also has certain therapeutic uses. Since x-rays penetrate deeply through body tissue, but can’t move through bone, they are useful for providing images of the inside of the body in a non-invasive manner, without having to perform surgery or place physical objects into the body to examine the state of its inner workings. Medical x-rays have been streamlined with modern equipment to expose body tissue to the minimum possible levels of radiation, while gathering the needed information.
Gamma radiation (along with alpha and beta particles) is usually a byproduct of radioactive decay, from radioactive isotopes such as potassium-40, cobalt-60, and others. Cobalt-60, with its large emission of gamma radiation, is used as a cancer treatment to target and kill cancer cells. It can be therapeutically useful in that way, but radiation does not distinguish between healthy and unhealthy cells, and can have the side effects of destroying healthy tissue and weakening the entire organism, as well.
Ionizing radiation also occurs in nature, usually in very small amounts that humans and other living organisms are well adapted to. The main cumulative source of exposure is called natural background radiation. It is the tiny quantities of radioactive decay that exist in the air, water and soil in most places. Airborne radon accounts for most of our natural exposure to ionizing radiation. It is part of the uranium/thorium decay process, and emits strong gamma rays. In the vast majority of places on Earth, it is in very small quantities and does not pose a health hazard, but in certain areas of the world it’s naturally more concentrated, and can be especially dangerous if it’s radiating from underneath a house and poor ventilation doesn’t allow easy escape, concentrating it to dangerous levels. You can measure the ionizing radiation currently present in any environment, or being emitted from materials, with a device called a Geiger counter (or a dosimeter, which measures cumulative exposure).
Another natural exposure source is from cosmic radiation, which is constantly moving into our atmosphere from outer space. Exposure intensifies as you move to higher elevations – the cosmic radiation level at mile-high elevations on Earth is about twice what it is at sea level! It becomes exponentially more intense while flying in commercial airplanes.
Wrapping it all up
When you learn about all the different properties, uses and sources of the different portions of the electromagnetic spectrum, just remember that these are all gradations of the same type of energy, and their differences may be less diverse than we think. It’s long been known that the highest parts of the spectrum, ionizing radiation, can damage and kill living cells and even cause cancer. When you move down the spectrum to the longer, lower frequency radio waves, it’s good to assume that there’s at least a possibility that this “non-ionizing” radiation may also have detrimental health effects.
The non-ionizing ultraviolet radiation described earlier is a good example. It was found to have “the ability of doing far more damage to many molecules in biological systems than is accounted for by simple heating effects”, according to a physics course on the EM spectrum.
For a while, it was believed (assumed) that the only harmful effects that non-ionizing radiation could possibly have are at intense enough power levels to heat living tissue. This has since been proven false through thousands of clinical studies, which have shown definite harmful effects from non-thermal (not strong enough to produce heating effects) non-ionizing radiation, from ELF (extremely low frequency) to the microwave frequencies.
Additionally, not all frequency sources have the same effects on biological health. Natural frequencies in the radio spectrum, with their infinite variations of frequencies, amplitudes, and congruent patterns that have similarities with the structure of our own bodies, can tangibly improve our health and well being.
Just go out into nature, to a waterfall or a dense forest, and take note of how you feel. Then go into an EMF dense metropolitan area, and compare the two. I’m sure almost everyone would say there’s a very big difference! We can’t see or hear the majority of these invisible frequencies all around us, but they are certainly still there, and are affecting us whether we realize it or not.
However, most of us can’t just leave the modern world and go live in nature permanently. Therefore, we will still have exposure to these biologically incoherent, manmade EMFs, if we want to live any semblance of a modern life.

Neuropsychiatric effects from microwave frequency electromagnetic fields have been studied since the 1970s, when two government reports found evidence of a wide variety of symptoms which were linked to occupational exposure to non-thermal levels of microwave EMFs. The observed prevalence of these combinations of neurological symptoms became widespread enough by the late ‘90s that the term “microwave sickness” or “radiofrequency sickness” was coined to summarize and label this increasingly common condition.
The brain, nervous system and mood related symptoms that are most commonly reported include depression, anxiety, restlessness, insomnia and sleep disturbances, fatigue, headaches, concentration and attention problems, memory loss, dizziness, irritability, nausea, skin burning and tingling, and EEG changes. These symptoms have been linked to exposure to microwave EMFs for several decades already, even back when radiofrequency radiation levels were a small fraction of what they are now as 5G is being rolled out, significantly increasing the RF density of our living environments with no prior safety testing.
Dozens of epidemiological studies over the last 50 years all collectively show that various non-thermal microwave EMF exposures produce diverse neuropsychiatric effects. These effects are linked to cell phone base stations, excessive cell phone usage, wireless smart meters, and more.
The main reason these studies have been disputed, or not taken as seriously as they should be, is because of the lack of an apparent mechanism for generating these symptoms. We now have studies which point to a primary mechanism of harm from pulsed microwave EMFs. The mechanism relates to the voltage-gated calcium channels (VGCCs) which occur in very high densities throughout our nervous system and have near universal roles in release of neurotransmitters and neuroendocrine hormones. Their unnatural hyper-activation from external electromagnetic fields causes a destructive chain reaction that includes excessive neurotransmitter release and the resulting oxidative/nitrosative stress.
Voltage-Gated Calcium Channels – A Key Piece To EMF Harm
Our entire bodies run on their own form of natural electricity. These natural electric currents are controlled and regulated by various ions that hold and release electrical charge when appropriate to any given biological function. Knowing that, it’s no wonder we are sensitive to even the very weakest electromagnetic fields from our environment. If our bodies are electrochemical in nature, and respond to even the smallest endogenous electrical signal, of course we are also going to be affected by external electric and magnetic signals.
It has been discovered that a primary mechanism through which manmade electromagnetic fields (especially pulsed microwave frequency EMFs) affect our bodies is through the voltage-gated calcium channels that are found in the membranes of every cell in our body, especially in our brain and nervous system. Calcium ions are sitting at the ready in our cell membranes, waiting for any signal prompt from hormones, neurotransmitters and other messengers in our bodies. When prompted by natural endogenous means, they typically release a tiny amount of calcium into the cytosol (the inside of the cell), which then triggers chain reactions of enzymes and other messengers to initiate a wide variety of functions, depending on what the messenger substance signaled. Our bodies are incredibly complex and sensitive.
The structure of the manmade, artificial EMFs that are being utilized today has a disastrous effect on our voltage-gated calcium channels (VGCCs). The havoc wreaked is related to the pulsed nature of alternating currents and radio-frequency radiation, which massively overstimulate our VGCCs, triggering the release of a literal flood of calcium into the inside of our cells. This causes a biologically confusing and overstimulating flood of signals that create chain reactions throughout ultimately every one of our bodily systems. It also necessitates the replacement of the calcium ions that are supposed to hold the negatively charged phospholipids of the cell membrane together with their double positive charge, with other ionic elements that are not as suited for this task. This results in small holes in the phospholipid barrier of the cell that leak substances into and out of the cell into places where they shouldn’t be, causing a variety of potential health issues.
A chronic leakage in the cell membrane caused by the calcium channel flooding stimulated by the external EMFs also causes dysfunction in the transport systems of each cell, inhibiting the intake of nutrients and the expelling of waste, causing the cell to weaken and eventually die.
Studies have been published in the past decade showing that calcium channel blocker drugs actually block or greatly reduce the biological effects from EMFs, proving that EMF harm is closely related to the role and function of the VGCCs.
How Can We Minimize VGCC Disruption & Recover Our Neurological Health?
Obviously, healthy people shouldn’t start taking calcium channel blocker drugs to block the effects of EMFs on the body, as these drugs come with the risk of significant side effects and should only be used by individuals with specific heart conditions.

1) The amplitude of the Blushield signal is stronger than the combined total of other EMFs in the environment (as long as the specific model used is strong enough for your individual exposure levels).
2) Blushield’s waveforms mimic natural patterns within a range of frequencies that occur in nature and that humans are known to respond well to, so it’s instantly familiar to our bodies (based on our genetic memory of what we have evolved with), and our cells actually prefer to entrain to these types of waveforms.
3) The waveforms are on a scalar / longitudinal carrier signal, instead of a transverse wave. Living organisms are considerably more responsive to scalar fields (as compared to transverse EM waves), since our bodies themselves naturally produce a type of bio-scalar. Note that not everyone will feel the changes from Blushield at the cell level, but that doesn’t mean it’s not working. These are extremely intricate cell-level processes, and that’s why we perform live blood analysis and other testing to show you what’s actually occurring in the blood, whether or not you are sensitive enough to tangibly feel the effects. She recently put out a call to her contacts about two projects she is doing. First, she is creating a questionnaire to distribute to medical practices and individuals about electromagnetic illness (EMI), and how likely it is that any given person has it. She wants to hear from experts in this subject, as well as anyone who believes that they personally suffer from EMI.
Electromagnetic illness is a term she uses that she feels is more accurate than the one that’s currently in common use, electro hypersensitivity (EHS), because these individuals are literally becoming ill (in one way or another) from exposure to EMFs. Using the term “hypersensitive” in the diagnosis implies that there is something wrong with the affected individual, rather than there being an inherent danger to the external stimulus that’s affecting that person.
She wants to hear specifically what questions you feel should be included in this questionnaire to make it as powerful and accurate as possible in gauging EMF illness in an individual.
Second, if you have (or have had) electromagnetic illness, she wants to hear about interventions that have helped you alleviate or fully resolve your symptoms. This can include lifestyle changes, supplements, various kinds of detox, removing EMF sources from your environment, healing/therapeutic devices, etc.

In Dr. Havas’ research on this subject, she believes that EMF illness is a lot more likely to occur for individuals with certain precursor conditions, which the EMFs will trigger and then symptoms will manifest. She believes that one key to healing electromagnetic illness is by resolving the underlying conditions that may be somewhat lying dormant until triggered by an electromagnetic stimulus. The 8 precursors she has theorized so far are:
- Physical damage to the central nervous system from concussions, whiplash, etc.
- Chemical & metal toxicity such as mercury or lead poisoning, pesticides, medications/drugs
- Electromagnetic trauma: excessive/prolonged exposure to EMFs such as excessive shocks, electrocution, lightning strikes
- Biological trauma: excessive parasite load, Lyme disease, mold toxicity, prolonged bacterial/viral infection
- Compromised immune system due to genetics, medication, prolonged illness, environmental stress
- Metal in the body such as surgically implanted metal rods, metal braces and dental implants, mercury/silver dental fillings, and tattoos with metal in the ink
- Dental issues such as metal fillings, root canals, and prolonged infections
- Prolonged limbic system disturbances that put people into a constant fight or flight response with sympathetic dominance. In this state people cannot heal, and hence moving them out of this state can go far in helping them to recover. Our thinking is important and can alter our health to a certain degree.
Dr. Havas’ preliminary conclusions seem sound to us, and emphasize why we need to alter our lifestyle and health in a holistic, all encompassing way to truly achieve and maintain health. In November 2020, New Hampshire became the first of the 50 United States to publish a comprehensive assessment and recommendation guide regarding the dangers of 5G and radiofrequency (RF) radiation, through a legislative Commission that was created following the passage of their House Bill 522 in 2019.
H.B. 522, titled “Establishing a commission to study the environmental and health effects of evolving 5G technology”, was introduced by Representative Patrick Abrami, who is an engineer, and passed easily in the House and Senate in 2019.
Abrami explained his thought process for introducing this bill and why he believes it’s important:
“The concern is radio frequency (RF) radiation. This with the vision of the Internet of Things; everything electronic being connected to each other via RF means there will be a soup of RF waves all around us. There are 1,000′s of peer-reviewed papers reporting on health and environmental problems. In the House hearing I brought in the former president of Microsoft Canada, a professor of toxicology, and an expert on the push back by municipalities throughout the country as well as others. The skeptical Science and Technology Committee had the same wow moment I did months ago. This bill, designed to establish a road map for N.H. on this topic, passed on the House floor without debate.”
This landmark bill and subsequent Commission not only established a road map for the State of New Hampshire, but could easily become a template for every other state with similar concerns to make significant progress in public awareness of the dangers of RF radiation, as well as establishing widespread safety precautions to protect public health.
Mounting Evidence of DNA Damage From Non-Ionizing Radiation
On November 1st, the Final Report of the Commission to Study the Environmental and Health Effects of Evolving 5G Technology was released. The Commission, whose members have backgrounds in physics, electromagnetic engineering, epidemiology, occupational health, toxicology, medicine, public health policy, business and law, after comprehensively researching the topic for almost a year, agreed in majority that RF radiation is harmful to human health and the environment.
The two exceptions to this nearly unanimous consensus were a wireless industry representative and a telecommunications rep, whose combined opinion was included in a minority report within the Final Report, repeating the standard narrative on the topic that telecom industry reps and the FCC have been parroting for years, which has consistently been downplaying or completely ignoring a mountain of evidence to the contrary. (In related news, this repetitive and dangerously dismissive message from industry and the FCC who supposedly regulates industry has recently been challenged in a large scale lawsuit by the Children’s Health Defense and Environmental Health Trust that is currently in process.)
The Introduction of the Final Report states, “There is mounting evidence that DNA damage can occur from radiation outside of the ionizing part of the spectrum.” Commission members were tasked to answer 8 questions, to assess this topic from every possible angle. The research and study engaged in to answer these questions was lengthy, and supported by considerable evidence and citations within the Final Report.
- The insurance industry considers wireless radiation as high risk, and refuses to cover damages by the pathological properties of RF radiation. Why?
- Why do cell phone manufacturers state in the legal section within their devices to keep the phone further than 5mm from the body, even though the phone’s radiation emission is supposedly within the “SAR safety limits” when “used normally”?
- Why have thousands of peer-reviewed studies, including the U.S. National Toxicology Program 16-year $30 million study, that are showing a wide range of statistically significant DNA damage, brain and heart tumors, infertility, and so many other ailments, been ignored by the Federal Communication Commission (FCC)?
- Why are the FCC-sanctioned guidelines for public exposure to wireless radiation based only on the thermal effect on the temperature of the skin and do not account for the non-thermal, non-ionizing, biological effects of wireless radiation?
- Why are the FCC radiofrequency exposure limits set for the United States 100 times higher than countries like Russia, China, Italy, Switzerland, and most of Eastern Europe?
- Why did the World Health Organization (WHO) signify that wireless radiation is a Group B Possibly Carcinogenic to Humans category, and why are some experts who sat on the WHO committee in 2011 now calling for it to be placed in Group 1 (“known carcinogens”), and why is such information being ignored by the FCC?
- Why have more than 220 of the world’s leading scientists signed an appeal to the WHO and the United Nations to protect public health from wireless radiation, and nothing has been done?
- Why have the cumulative biological damaging effects of ever-growing numbers of pulse signals riding on the electromagnetic sine waves not been explored, especially as the world embraces the Internet of Things, meaning all devices being connected by electromagnetic waves, and the exploration of the number of such pulse signals that will be created by implementation of 5G technology?
After reviewing countless study reports, hearing from experts on both sides of the argument about RF radiation safety, and trying to get answers directly from the FCC and other government agencies (with no luck), they were not able to sufficiently answer all eight of their study questions.
What they did take note of are several ongoing lawsuits against the FCC regarding their failure to update health based limits for wireless radiation exposure, and the fact that the World Health Organization and insurance companies are hedging their bets against RF radiation due to potential harm. They became aware of the mountain of research that has already been done that shows the harm of RF radiation, and specifically the pulsed and modulated aspect of these radiation sources which are increasing as the data transmission rate increases. The current situation is far different than when their “health safety limits” were established in 1996, as many different sources of radiation are stacking and overlapping, all piling their separate pulsations on top of the other, creating a “soup” of radiation that is completely new to humanity, and very experimental.
All of that duly noted, they conclude that the precautionary principle needs to be applied. They feel that it is prudent to approach this subject as if these new levels and forms of radiation are extremely harmful to living organisms, because it’s better to be safe than sorry, and the evidence so far is strongly pointing in that direction.
15 Recommendations To Increase Awareness & Protect the Public
After one year of meetings with study sessions and educational talks by experts on the topic, the Commission formulated 15 recommendations to shape future policy for the State of New Hampshire. Their objective with these recommendations is to bring greater awareness of cell phone, wireless and 5G radiation health effects, and to provide guidance to officials on steps and policies that can reduce public exposure. The 15 recommendations are all considered to be of equal importance.
1.Propose a resolution to US Congress to require the FCC to commission an independent review of the current radiofrequency (RF) standards of the 300Mhz to 300Ghz microwave spectrum, as well as a health study. Research should be conducted by independent organizations, and focused on establishing safe exposure guidelines that include non-thermal exposure effects, ways to reduce human exposure, as well as optimizing the devices themselves to be less harmful to human health.
2. Require various State of New Hampshire websites to contain links with information on the dangers of RF radiation, and specifically of the 5G small cells installed in public rights-of-way, and showing proper use of cell phones to reduce exposure to RF radiation. Also, public service announcements on radio, television, print media and the internet should periodically appear, warning of the health risks associated with non-ionizing radiation exposure. Warnings concerning babies, young children and pregnant women are of special importance.
3. Require that every pole and other structure in the public right-of-way that holds a 5G antenna be labeled indicating that RF radiation is being emitted above, and to keep a safe distance. This label should be visible at eye level from at least 9 feet away.
4. Schools and public libraries should move away from wireless connections and towards hard wired fiber optic or copper connections for internet. Their stated is goal is to achieve this within 5 years as funding becomes available, acknowledging that schools and libraries have already invested a lot of money into the wireless systems they use currently. They deem this additional investment of resources to be extremely worthwhile, as children and teenagers are far more vulnerable to the harms of RF radiation than adults, as their skulls are thinner and they are still in the sensitive developmental window where external forces can permanently influence their growth in a positive or negative direction.
5. All RF radiation facilities and base stations should be measured for their radiation output, to ensure they are in compliance with the FCC’s current guidelines on safe levels. There have been many cases where a facility has been found to exceed the safety guidelines, threatening the health of humans and animals in the vicinity. Measurements should be done periodically, such as anytime changes are made to the system, and this data should be consistently available to the public on a website. Measurements should be done by an independent contractor, and paid for by the site installer.
6. Establish new protocols for measuring radiation output, taking into account additional nuances of radiation’s health effects, beyond simply measuring frequency, amplitude or heating effects. Of particular importance is the impulsive nature of high-data-rate radiation, which we are increasingly faced with as we move towards faster speeds. This faster pulsation rate has been shown to be especially harmful to living organisms, and there needs to be ways to measure and account for this factor.
7. Require any new wireless antenna located on public right-of-way or on private property to be set back from residences, businesses and schools. This should be enforceable by the municipality during the permitting process, unless the owners of residences, businesses, or school districts waive this restriction.
8. Upgrade the educational offerings for licensure and certification of home inspectors to include RF intensity measurements. Home inspectors are private contractors who can be hired by citizens or businesses to look for hazards such as radon, mold, insect damage and test water quality, prior to renting or buying a home or office space. Being able to detect high levels of non-ionizing radiation in a building would add value to their services, especially as awareness of RF dangers increase and the incidence of electromagnetic illness in susceptible individuals increases (as RF radiation itself increases).
9. The State of New Hampshire should begin to measure RF intensities within different frequency ranges all throughout the state, to develop and refine a continually updated map of RF exposure levels across the state. This information can then be used by RF sensitive individuals (or anyone who just doesn’t want excessive exposure) so they can choose to live and travel mainly in low-RF and RF “dead zones”.
10. Strongly recommend all new cell phones and all other wireless devices sold come equipped with updated software that can stop the phone from radiating when positioned against the body. Cell phones contain proximity sensors that enable them to shut off radiation output when they detect an obstacle, which just requires the installation of software that can utilize this built-in feature. These software upgrades should be known about and available to all cell phone users, and can be easily turned on and off for different purposes. Phones, laptops and tablets that are marketed specifically to children should have this radiation sensor setting turned on, in all circumstances.
11. Adopt and promote a statewide position encouraging the deployment of fiber optic and internal wired connections to serve all commercial and public properties statewide.“The majority of the Commission believes that fiber optic transmission is the infrastructure of the future. When compared, RF wireless transmission lacks fiber optic characteristics: speed, security, and signal reliability while avoiding biological effects on humans and the environment.”
The last three recommendations deal with increasing education and awareness of the clinical symptoms of electromagnetic illness within the medical and health care industry, posting RF exposure warning signs in all commercial and public buildings, establishing RF-free “safe zones” where employees and visitors can seek refuge from RF exposure, and developing RF radiation safety limits that will protect trees, plants, birds, insects and pollinators.
Conclusion
Overall, this report is a leading example by one state of what can be done in all states, if we can raise enough awareness. Please consider sharing this with influencers and policy makers in your local area, so we can move towards making changes that will protect the health of people and nature, as 5G is starting to proliferate unchecked and only has the interests of its bottom line and faster speeds in mind. If you have read our most recent article, you may have been surprised to learn that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) was sued earlier this year for their refusal to update their 25-year-old wireless exposure “health” guidelines, which are obsolete and ineffective for several reasons. This lawsuit, filed by Children’s Health Defense and the Environmental Health Trust, is in process, and their case against the FCC is strong! We will continue to follow their progress and keep you updated on proceedings.
However, the FCC hasn’t just been sued once. There was another recent Federal case against the FCC, which lasted a year and resulted in a verdict that opens up a lot of possibility for positive change on a state level. This one focuses on another area of corruption not directly related to wireless technology’s harmful health effects.
It was discovered that for nearly two decades, the FCC has been allowing several big telecoms who provide both wireless and wired phone services to pull a sleight of hand, secretly repurposing funds paid by landline telephone subscribers that were promised to go towards building up fiber optic infrastructure to all households, into the buildup of 5G wireless. The FCC didn’t just allow it, but encouraged it due to their flawed accounting rules that do not hold wireless service to the same strict regulations as landline, local phone service.
As a result, telecoms have been tempted by the massive profits they could acquire through this “legal cheating” that the FCC has allowed. Intentionally or unintentionally, the FCC and several big telecoms have created the Digital Divide. If you haven’t yet heard that term, it refers to the disproportionate access to high speed internet in urban and high income areas, compared to rural and low income areas which often have slow or nonexistent internet capabilities.
In modern times when nearly every form of human progress is dependent on connectivity, this unfair playing field ensures that the wealthy get wealthier and the poor get poorer, instead of providing equal opportunity for every person who is motivated to succeed. Internet access should be seen as a household utility, like electricity and water. The Digital Divide is a huge social issue that could be easily fixed, as this lawsuit points out.
5G Wireless Is Being Funded By Landline Customers Who Were Promised Fiber Optic
The heart of this unfortunate circumstance is based on a decades long, half a trillion dollars’ worth broken promise. The stated goal, nearly 20 years ago, was to build out high speed fiber optic connections to 100% of households all across the United States, creating a culture of connectivity and equal opportunity to all U.S. citizens.
To achieve this goal, local landline phone service subscribers were charged extra fees with every single phone bill, for decades, amounting to a total of thousands of dollars per household, to ensure that this future of connectivity was actualized for every home and family. The fees were specifically promised to go towards the built out of FTTP, or “fiber to the premises”, which means a direct fiber optic connection to every home and office. This never ended up happening in 25% of homes, which increases to 35-40% in low income areas. Therefore, to get connected, these people are forced to subscribe to the more expensive and relatively slower and less reliable wireless services as a poor substitute for high speed in-home internet access.
So where did this over half a trillion dollars of extra funds go?
According to the telecom accounting records (and the direct admission of industry spokespeople to their investors), it went towards building up the fiber optic infrastructure to cell towers, including the millions of new 5G “small cells” being installed all over the country, especially in larger cities.
What many people don’t know is that wireless service depends on fiber optic lines for the majority of its data transmission. The “wireless” part is just the very end of the line, from tower/antenna to the user’s device, and in the case of 5G this is often just 1,000 feet or less because the range of 5G is so short. These fiber optic lines only benefit the wireless companies, even though it would be easy (and relatively inexpensive) to extend the lines to nearby homes to give them direct access, freeing each family from being overly reliant on wireless services.
Local, state-based landline utilities are usually provided by the same big telecoms that also provide wireless, although they technically have an “affiliate” relationship. For example, Verizon NY (which provides New York’s local phone service) and Verizon Wireless are affiliates, basically controlled by the same company, Verizon. This makes it easy to fudge profits and expenses to make things look a certain way. You may have heard that “local phone service and wireline internet are unprofitable” compared to the highly profitable wireless services. This is completely inaccurate, and only due to letting “local phone services” pay for the entire backhaul that wireless service depends on. It gives the false impression to the public that wireless is more profitable, and therefore a better option to rely on for our connectivity needs.
If 5G wireless had to pay its own infrastructure expenses, it literally could not fund itself, by a long shot.
Who Dares To Sue the FCC?
The Irregulators are an independent consortium of senior telecom experts, analysts, forensic auditors, and lawyers who are former senior staffers from the FCC, state advocates and Attorneys General Office experts and lawyers, as well as former telco consultants. Members of the group have been working together, in different configurations, since 1999.
Bruce Kushnick and Scott McCullough are the primary spokespeople of the Irregulators.
Bruce has been a telecom analyst for over 30 years, and has been involved in several important technology upgrades over the decades, including touchtone phone, caller ID and voice message capabilities. His newest tome of a book (581 pages!) is freely available to download and read, called “The Book of Broken Promises: $400 Billion Broadband Scandal & Free the Net”, and is the third writing in a related trilogy. He writes the many extensive articles detailing this issue and court case, and is the face of all the other consumer advocacy work they are doing to ensure fair play by the telecoms and the FCC.
Scott is the highly educated and experienced cutthroat attorney who took the FCC head on in this court case. His practice focuses on communications, computer and internet law and regulation, with an emphasis on representation of consumers and small competitive and new technology application and service providers. He has unparalleled knowledge and experience relating to those places where technology and regulation intersect – and often collide.
Scott’s participation in this case is especially relevant, as he just signed on as an attorney in the other FCC lawsuit by the Children’s Health Defense, focused on the FCC’s obsolete wireless “health guidelines”, which we discussed in a previous article.
A Step In the Right Direction: The Irregulators Freed the States From the FCC
Almost a year after the Irregulators challenged the FCC in the DC Court of Appeals about the FCC’s cost accounting rules and formulas, the Court issued an opinion that opens the door for the next stage of the Irregulators’ plan. The Court essentially stated that this fight cannot be fought in a Federal court, and remitted power over this issue to the state jurisdictions. They basically gave each state permission to demand correction of the fraudulent accounting of their own local services, and pursue these lost funds. This officially closed the FCC lawsuit through the DC Court of Appeals, which was what the Irregulators were hoping would happen.
The next step for the Irregulators is letting each state know that their hands are no longer tied by FCC “rules”, and that they can (and should!) go after the misappropriated funds, and ensure that they are used to complete the long overdue buildout of local high speed internet to ALL residences.
If most or every state jumps on this and decides to do it (once they are informed that they have the power to do so), this will retract massive amounts of wrongly placed funding from 5G. This will be a very good thing, as 5G implementation has been extremely rushed, barreling over and ignoring the many concerns of local municipalities and residents, from health concerns for humans, animals and the environment, to aesthetic issues relating to intrusively placed 5G infrastructure reducing property values. Slowing down the illegitimate funds for 5G will force the FCC and telecoms to face the health issues involved that they have been blatantly ignoring as they are singly focused on implementing their technology as fast as possible. It will also force them to find a legitimate and fair way to fund their wireless pursuits.
Wireless services are certainly useful, but ideally only as an adjunct to high speed wired connections to residences and businesses. We elaborate a lot more on why this is the case in another article, Why Wired Internet in the Home & Office Is Better Than 5G.
What You Can Do To Help
The best way you can help is to contact your local representatives, letting them know that they have the power to ensure that the telecoms are serving their constituents as fairly and honorably as possible. You can tell them to stand up for the people’s rights to equal access to basic utilities, as well as being protected from the currently unavoidable health risks of wireless radiation in their environment. The standards we hold the FCC and telecoms to needs to be raised.
The state legislators can refer to New Hampshire’s great example. In 2019, they passed a law establishing a commission to study the health and environmental effects of evolving 5G technology. The commission just released its final report in November of 2020, and it sets a wonderful example that other states can follow. The report issued several recommendations regarding 5G, including:
- warnings on state agencies’ websites about the harms of RF radiation, including 5G small cells, and specific warnings concerning babies, children and pregnant women
- recommendations that wireless antennas be placed at a safer distance from homes, schools and businesses
- recommendations that schools and libraries move away from Wifi and instead use hardwired internet connections
- encourage statewide deployment of fiber optic internet connections to serve all public and commercial properties
- encourage the state to consult with agencies with appropriate scientific expertise about RF radiation dangers, to establish safer protocols to protect the natural environment from RF harm

The FCC Is Being Sued
Stop 5G refers to a huge, landmark lawsuit that Children’s Health Defense, in conjunction with the Environmental Health Trust (EHT), filed against the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) in February of 2020 through the U.S. Court of Appeals. It was filed in response to the FCC’s refusal to review its 25-year-old obsolete wireless “health guidelines” and adopt scientific, biologically based radio frequency emissions rules that adequately protect public health.
The Principal (Evidentiary) Brief was filed in July. The brief is 115 pages, and is packed full of valid studies and points of consideration that the FCC either responded inadequately to, or ignored completely.
The current safety guidelines were put in place back in 1996, almost 25 years ago when radio frequency radiation exposure levels were a small fraction of what they are today. Also, the guidelines were only based on “thermal effects”, which refer to the amount of radiation required to heat living tissue and cause damage. Potential non-thermal mechanisms of damage were not even considered. The FCC is supposed to frequently review and reassess its guidelines, especially in light of the unprecedented increase in non-ionizing radiation exposure of every human alive today.
In 2012, the U.S. Government Accountability Office published a recommendation to the FCC that they formally reassess their guidelines applicable to RF radiation in the ways that people would normally be exposed with common usage, particularly when phones are held up against the body.
So in 2013, the FCC responded by opening a docket asking for public comment on whether they should review and change their guidelines. In the 6 years the docket was open, hundreds of individuals and scientists submitted evidence that indicated that the current FCC guidelines were grossly inadequate in protecting human, animal and environmental health, and the FCC disregarded all of it and ultimately decided not to review their guidelines. They closed the docket in 2019, stating they couldn’t find adequate reason to reassess their safety standards.

We Need To Hold the FCC Accountable
Children’s Health Defense and the Environmental Health Trust are now holding them accountable for their dangerous negligence, and are demanding through the court of law that the FCC address all the evidence they had previously dismissed without explanation.
The Federal Communications Commission needs to demonstrate that they are a true government organization in service to the people, and not bought out by the industry they are supposed to regulate, as proposed in the Harvard University Center for Ethics’ book, Captured Agency: How the Federal Communications Commission Is Dominated by the Industries It Presumably Regulates.

We are living in a unique time. We are currently exposed to the highest amount of toxic heavy metals ever before in human history, from a variety of sources, and these metals build up in our body and increase our toxic load. Simultaneously, electromagnetic fields from manmade devices are saturating the airspace we live and breathe in, interacting with and disrupting our highly sensitive internal electromagnetic body processes.
Chronic, degenerative illness is also the highest it’s ever been. Could there be a link between the toxic metals that saturate our air, water and food since the industrial age, the invisible yet definitely not ineffectual electromagnetic and radio waves that surround us at thousands or millions of times the strength of natural background radiation, and the alarming rise in chronic illness we face today?

Metal conductivity, & defining “heavy metals”
All metals, to greater or lesser extents, conduct electricity. Electricity could be defined simply as the movement of electrons. One of the defining characteristics of a metal is that the electrons in the outer shell of each metal atom (called valence electrons) are not firmly held in place by the nucleus of the atom, and are easily moved towards other atoms in proximity. The easier it is to move the metal’s electrons, the more conductive the metal is. When some kind of external force is applied, such as a magnetic force, these electrons move from one metal atom to the next in a cascading effect, generating a current of electric charge. Since electricity (movement of electrons) and magnetism (attraction and repulsion, also a property of certain metals) are both involved, this is called electromagnetism.
We have ‘good metals’ in our body, known as essential minerals, which power the electrochemical processes that allow all our myriad body functions work automatically and seemingly miraculously. Our nervous system and the pacemaker of our heart are especially dependent on our internal symphony of electromagnetism. We could say that a ‘good metal’ is any metal/mineral we ingest that can be absorbed and utilized to the benefit of our health.
You’ve probably heard the term ‘heavy metal’ referring to metals that we absorb that are toxic or unusable to our bodies, and this isn’t quite an accurate term, but it’s fairly close to the truth. In physics and chemistry, no one completely agrees on the definition of ‘heavy metal’, but it usually refers to either the atomic weight or atomic number, a high density, or chemical behavior. Many heavy metals, like lead, cadmium, arsenic and mercury, are not considered biologically useful, and have known toxic effects on the body. But there are some in the heavy metal category that are also vitally essential minerals in trace amounts, such as iron, zinc, copper, manganese, selenium and chromium, but are toxic in excess. Some heavy metals, although not considered essential, are said to be harmless and potentially even beneficial, such as silver, gold and indium. Then, there are some ‘lighter’ metals, like aluminum, that are toxic even in small amounts. So as you can see, “heavy metal” doesn’t have a neat, blanket definition when it comes to metal toxicity.
For the purpose of this article, we will use the term ‘heavy metal’ interchangeably with ‘toxic metal’, meaning any metal that isn’t used by any body processes or has any benefit to the body. Even if a metal isn’t doing acute damage, if it’s not being useful and is allowed to build up, the space it takes up is a problem in itself, and may cause the body to become more conductive to external electromagnetic radiation, as we will elaborate on later.
Health dangers of a toxic metal load
The main criteria that determines metal toxicity is the form the metals take. Heavy metals make up approximately 25% of the Earth’s crust, but they are safely sequestered there and are very gradually converted to organic forms through the plants and animals that we eat, and there would be trace amounts in the water we drink. Naturally, we would be consuming these metals in tiny amounts and often in an organic form, and any excess would be easily excreted by our liver and kidneys, which are designed to remove anything we ingest that we don’t need, as well as our own metabolic waste.
Mining and industry has caused the majority of the issue, as we haul thousands of tons of inorganic, crude metals from deep inside the Earth, processing them in factories and coal plants and releasing a mass of airborne particles, which settle into the water we drink, the topsoil we grow our food in, and straight into our lungs through the air we breathe. This unnatural exposure massively increases our internal load of inorganic metal particles, and we unwittingly ingest them much faster than our overworked organs can remove them. This is a dilemma for our bodies, and the only thing left to do is store them away in our fat, organs, brain and any other tissue it can push them into, so they won’t cause acute damage by floating around in our bloodstream. The body shoves them into these “emergency storage” pockets temporarily, promising that when it gets a break from its constant busywork, it will backtrack and deal with these dangerous and unusable substances later on.
For most of us who are exposed to toxic elements frequently and don’t prioritize detoxification, this time never comes. The toxins build up more and more, like racking up debt on a credit card that you can never pay off. By sequestering the metals away deep into the tissues, the immediate danger was removed, but at the expense of a more chronic, insidious danger.
Ambient electromagnetic fields are attracted to metals
Electromagnetic fields are generated by electric currents in metals that are influenced and moved by magnetism, and they also interact with and are attracted to other nearby metals. This is how a metal antenna can pick up a radio frequency that’s generated electromagnetically from far away. If the broadcasted frequency is present in the same airspace as the antenna, the antenna will concentrate and amplify it.
Metals in our body will do the same thing, and since our human bodies have electromagnetic components vital to our functioning, and take in and concentrate minerals (metals) to support proper and healthy biological processes, we are considered to be living conductors of electricity. Humans are considered a “weak conductor”, because we aren’t as strong as a lightning rod, power lines or a tall, straight tree, but nevertheless we have conductive properties, otherwise lightning would never strike a human.
It has been established that our bodies need many different kinds of metals to function properly. Dozens of metals are considered ‘essential minerals’ that we need to consume through our diet so we can stay in optimal health. These include calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, sulfur, potassium, sodium and many other metals in smaller amounts (referred to as ‘trace minerals’) such as iron, zinc, chromium, manganese, copper, selenium, and more. When we ingest these in a bioavailable form, our body easily converts these metals to a neutral salt form and integrates them into its own electrochemical systems. These minerals are used for the highly sensitive, intricate electromagnetic impulse and messenger system that helps our entire body function optimally.
When a metal is ingested that isn’t necessary or useful, in a toxic indigestible form, or in excess, our body will not integrate and use it. These are the metals that build up in our body. When a metal isn’t being actively used in our own electromagnetic body systems, it just sits there and picks up ambient electromagnetic fields, acting as a micro-antenna to EMFs that are not biologically coherent.
Heavy metal toxicity & electromagnetic hypersensitivity
There are many problems with toxic metal buildup in the body. It has been discovered that harmful microbe colonies like certain bacteria, viruses, yeasts and parasites can use toxic metals as ‘shields’ or ‘houses’, allowing them to hide so our immune system will not detect and attack them. These harmful microbes can build up vast colonies, undetected, much more easily when toxic metals are in the mix.
We also know that biologically incoherent EMFs from manmade devices suppress the immune system, allowing these microbes to proliferate even more. The combination of metal toxicity and constant EMF exposure gives these microbes an opportunity to gain a foothold and go wild, weakening our systems and in many cases, initiating chronic illness.
Toxic metals often don’t just sit around and do nothing – in many cases, they settle into the receptor sites of essential minerals we are deficient in. These metals don’t do what the essential minerals do, and just mess up a lot of systems because they are not meant for the job. This is why making sure you aren’t mineral deficient is extremely important in reducing damage from heavy metals.
A condition known as electromagnetic hypersensitivity (EHS) is a somewhat new but widely experienced form of illness. Somewhere between 3% to 35% of people experience mild, moderate or severe EHS. Many EHS symptoms are the same as the symptoms of a chronic viral or bacterial illness, and it seems they are related. This is likely because of the link between EMFs, heavy metals and harmful microbes. Most of those who suffer from severe EHS also have high metal toxicity.
In addition to the toxic metal particles floating around in our bodies taking up space and not being used, having larger pieces of metal in the body can increase our EMF sensitivity. This includes mercury-silver amalgam dental fillings, and metal rods or parts that have been surgically inserted. It is not uncommon for those with metal dental fillings to report being able to pick up signals from certain radio stations – meaning they will ‘hear’ songs playing in their heads that always turn out to be associated with a particular station that the filling is tuning into, because its size is close to (or a certain fraction of) the wavelength of that station’s frequency!
Having metal dental fillings with mercury in them also slowly leaches mercury into the brain. It is recommended that if you have mercury amalgam fillings, if at all possible have them removed by a biological dentist who has the ability and infrastructure to safely remove mercury fillings without increasing contamination.
If you’ve ever had vaccines, you probably have toxic metals in your body (especially mercury and aluminum), as they are used as adjuvants to help the vaccines “work”. There are even ingredients in vaccines that open the blood-brain barrier (notably polysorbate 80), allowing these metals to become embedded in the brain and cause neurological issues.
Heavy metal detox methods
Fortunately, there are several ways to safely remove heavy metals from the body, and this is something everyone should do even if you don’t have extreme or acute symptoms of toxicity. It’s likely, because of their prevalence in our environment, that you have low grade metal poisoning that is showing up through mild or moderate nagging symptoms that you may not associate with metals.
The best place to start is to reduce your consumption of toxic metals by eating healthy, whole organic foods and drinking clean, filtered water. There is no use trying to remove heavy metals from your body if you keep adding them back in at a rapid rate. There are certain foods that have binding or chelating properties, which can slowly reduce your metal load over time if you consume them regularly. Cilantro and chlorella, as well as foods high in sulfur like onions, garlic and cruciferous vegetables are helpful in removing metals from the body. Adding substances like activated charcoal and purified zeolites can speed up removal of metals. Even just increasing the nutrient density of your diet can help your body remove metals on its own. Foods high in iodine (and iodine supplements) are helpful, as iodine acts as a chelator of many heavy metals, as well as toxic halides like fluorine, chlorine and bromine.
A substance called EDTA is a highly effective metal chelator that has been widely used since World War II, when an epidemic of lead poisoning was found in Navy personnel. Normally it’s used in oral or IV forms, but both can have significant drawbacks. Oral EDTA’s benefits are considerably reduced by passing through the digestive tract, where it picks up any positively charged substance (such as essential minerals that haven’t been assimilated into the body yet), leaving a much smaller amount left over to enter the bloodstream and scavenge metals deeper in the body. EDTA given through IV can be a lot more effective, but it’s also more dangerous and needs to be administered by a professional. It is expensive and can have uncomfortable side effects.
The most effective and safest EDTA is in the form of suppositories. This way, it can more directly enter the bloodstream without the need for needles and injections. It moves through the bloodstream and into deeper tissues of the body, and since it is negatively charged, it bonds to substances with strong positive charges. Remember, essential minerals are turned into a neutral salt form by the body, but toxic and unusable metals remain in a positively charged state. The EDTA binds to these metals and carries them out of the body.
Most EDTA is bonded to calcium and sodium as a delivery system. We prefer one made with magnesium and potassium, since most people are deficient in these nutrients. Magnesium and potassium so readily accessed in the bloodstream produces additional benefits that even go beyond the EDTA chelation, helping to alleviate magnesium deficiency and the many symptoms associated with it. Magnesium even helps reduce the harm of electromagnetic fields, as we have covered previously in our Importance of Magnesium for Mitigating EMF Damage article.
A special bonus of this form of EDTA is that it removes the excess calcium that migrates out of our bones and teeth and into all the wrong places (such as our arteries and joints) as we age. Since this calcium isn’t where it belongs, it carries a positive charge, and since calcium is a lighter metal the EDTA will pick the calcium up first, signaling to the body a temporary calcium deficiency and need to store calcium. When the EDTA finds heavier metals to bind with, it will drop the calcium and bind to the heavier toxic metals, and the calcium will be re-integrated into our bones and teeth since our calcium storage mechanism was triggered by the perceived loss of calcium. Then the heavier toxic metals will be carried out of the body, bound to the EDTA molecules.

Let’s talk a little bit about coils.
Metal coils are used in a wide variety of common, everyday machines and devices that function through the interaction of electric and magnetic fields.
Is there something special about the coil shape that makes it so advantageous for this purpose?
What about Tesla coils – what exactly are they, why are they special and how can they be used?
An even more pressing question for many of our readers: can they harness and utilize scalar / longitudinal waves?
Lastly, are there any disadvantages of using coils as transmitters and receivers?
We will unpack all of that in this article.
First, let’s examine the coil shape, and what makes it so valuable as a component of electromagnetic devices. Metal coils are used in many different types of machines, including generators, motors, transformers, inductors, sensors and antennas. The coil has a wire (called a “winding”) made from a conductive material (such as copper or another metal), which spirals upward/downward or inward/outward. The wire is usually insulated with a non-conductive material like rubber, so that the loops can all touch each other without the metal touching, which makes the coil as small and compact as possible while harnessing the most power possible.
When an electric current runs through the wire, it creates a circular magnetic field that extends a ways outward from the wire, perpendicular to the direction of the current. When the coil loops around again (each loop is called a “turn”), the magnetic field produced by that part of the wire overlaps with the magnetic field produced by all the other turns, therefore concentrating the magnetic field. The more turns a coil has, the stronger the magnetic field will be. That’s why the coil shape is so powerful for concentrating electromagnetism in a device. It concentrates even more if the coil is wrapped around a conductive core (also called a magnetic axis), often made of iron or ceramic, which can increase the magnetic field of a coil by hundreds or thousands of times.

Why sleeping on a box spring mattress is not ideal
Coils can also be used as transmitting or receiving antennas. An example is the loop antenna, which is used to convert radio waves to electric currents. One way antennas work is because their circumference is often the same size as the frequency wavelength they are designed to transmit or receive. They will also work if they are certain fractions of the size of the wavelength, like one-half or one-fourth of a wavelength, and these smaller antennas are usually more practical, especially as receiving antennas.
Any conductive material of the right size will amplify various wavelengths that may be present in the airspace around it. Receiving antennas are designed to pick up a specific signal, which is then amplified by a receiver connected to the antenna. The antenna itself picks up the somewhat weak radio waves, and if it’s not connected to a receiver to channel and amplify the signal, most of the waves will be re-radiated into the space nearby.

Most mattresses used for sleeping in the Western world have an internal structure that’s a grid of metal springs. The size of these metal coil grids also happens to be around one-half the size of the wavelength of FM and TV broadcast waves that are used in Western countries. This size, combined with this mass of springs that are all coil-shaped and connected to one another (which increases their conductivity), makes it a perfect passive receiver of ambient FM and TV broadcast signals. Since there is no receiver connected to these unwitting “antennas”, the waves attracted by the springs re-radiate outward, and these reflected waves combine with the incoming waves, the strongest effect being had about 30 inches from the springs.
This means that when you sleep on a metal spring mattress, any appropriately sized radio signals that may be in the room are being amplified right where your body is. This produces weak magnetic fields, and even though they are weak, if you are exposed to them every time you sleep (which is a third of your life!), you are bathing in unnecessary and avoidable EMFs.

The history & uses of Tesla coils
One of the most well known and powerful coils is the Tesla coil, invented by Serbian-American electrical engineer Nikola Tesla in 1891, to wirelessly transmit electricity. It uses two copper coils, called the primary and secondary coils, that each have their own capacitor (which stores electrical energy until enough energy has built up to produce the desired voltage). The two coils are connected by a spark gap.
The energy has to be very high-voltage to produce the desired effect, which is achieved by using a transformer to turn a low-voltage power source (like main power) into high-voltage. The high-voltage electricity then flows into the primary coil and its capacitor, building up until it reaches the threshold where it can jump across the air space in the spark gap into the secondary coil. The two coils then achieve a frequency resonance and the electricity will “jump” back and forth across the spark gap, building up the charge in the secondary coil and capacitor.
Eventually, the charge builds up so much in the secondary capacitor (which is a large “top load”, torus-shaped capacitor at the top of the whole unit) that it breaks free and the electric current shoots through the air. That current can then be received wirelessly by other devices. Florescent light bulbs nearby can light up wirelessly from the current.
Radios and televisions still use variations of the Tesla coil, but the model was largely abandoned by conventional engineering practices, because the depth of Tesla’s discoveries were not comprehended.
Through his experiments with Tesla coils, he accidentally harnessed and utilized scalar energy. He called it “radiant energy”, and witnessed and identified it while experimenting with violently abrupt direct current (DC) electrical charges. Up until that point in the engineering world, scalar/longitudinal waves were part of James Clerk Maxwell’s original electromagnetic theory, but had not yet been proven through experiments.
Tesla then became preoccupied by scalar waves in his research and experiments, because their mysterious nature and the implications for their use fascinated him.

Scalar devices & copper toxicity
So in the first experiments with scalar energy in recorded history, copper coils were a prominent component of scalar transmitting technology. That was over a century ago, but even today, many engineers who want to produce devices that utilize scalar fields (mainly for health effects) still use copper coils. This method can effectively produce scalar, but there are certain disadvantages to using copper coils that, over time and cumulative exposure, can actually create negative effects on health.
The transverse component of an electromagnetic wave is the physical, measurable frequency, but the longitudinal component is what carries the information about the structure and contents of that wave. So for example, the longitudinal component of an EMF radiating from a cell phone tower, is what carries the information of the repetitive, oscillating frequency, and that is mainly what harms our bodies. This is why we say the scalar component is 5 times more powerful than the transverse component – because the information fields affect us significantly more than the physical frequencies. Our bodies do not like continuous, repetitive frequencies, because it stimulates cells in the same way repeatedly, with no end in sight.
This is why using copper coils to transmit scalar is not a good idea in the long run. The scalar wave is carrying the information of the mineral copper, picked up from the coils, and it is permeating our environment whenever we use that device. The scalar frequency of copper can affect our body chemistry similarly to the physical substance of copper. Copper is an essential mineral but also a heavy metal, and too much copper can displace other minerals (like zinc) and create health problems.

The term conspiracy theory has likely been in use for more than a century, but in the past couple decades and especially these past few years, the term has become widely known. When someone first hears about how the manmade electromagnetic fields that now permeate our living spaces more than ever can cause harm to human bodies and other living organisms, but then find out that the government, tech industry and mainstream media claim they are completely harmless, many will wonder…
Are EMF dangers just another conspiracy theory?
First of all, since “conspiracy theory” is commonly used as an insult to dismiss a claim without investing energy into a thoroughly educated counter-argument, it’s important to examine what this term actually means. It’s fairly self-evident that in a modern context, it applies to the suspicion, based on evidence that “just doesn’t add up”, that the official narrative of any big event or big issue is purposely concealing or falsely reporting the truth of what happened, for the purpose of furthering an agenda. By “official narrative”, we mean the version of an event reported by the mainstream media, the government, or any other powerful organization capable of influencing a notable percentage of human minds.
When an individual who is concerned with knowing the true version of an event “theorizes” that groups of people or organizations are “conspiring” for a particular outcome, technically they could be referred to as a conspiracy theorist, and the term itself isn’t inherently insulting. Generally, when people make decisions together in secret (a conspiracy), it is because the potentially affected parties wouldn’t like or agree with the plan, if they knew about it. So to some extent, conspiracies always have ill intent. A sensible, discerning “conspiracy theorist” has seen evidence that arouses suspicion that something is being wrongly reported, and tries to investigate the matter more thoroughly to get to the bottom of it. Much like a detective, solving mysteries.
However, the term has been turned into a derogatory one, by those who don’t want to admit that conspiracies are actually possible and happen regularly. If you study history, you will find out that conspiracies exist, and even large scale conspiracies are possible if only a few people at the top know the truth and everyone further down the line just believes the lie and follows along. Why would our modern society be exempt from the conspiracies that groups of humans concerned with maintaining or increasing their power have been engaging in for all of documented history?
After the JFK assassination in 1963, a significant portion of the population questioned the official story of how it happened and who was involved. This mass suspicion was so concerning to the United States government at the time that the CIA wrote a 53-page document full of instructions on how to dismiss and debunk the questions brought up by these “conspiracy theorists”, to restore faith in the official story published by the Warren Report, to be used by influential voices such as journalists of large publications. This CIA document was not publicly available until a FOIA (Freedom Of Information Act) request was filed over 10 years later. The JFK assassination is still widely questioned to this day.
A more refreshing title for sensible individuals that question official narratives would be a “truth seeker”. The pursuit of (sometimes hidden) truth has always been, and always will be, a vital task in any society. As long as any human engages in deception, truth seeking will be relevant and noble. However, discernment and open mindedness are of critical importance – just because someone has posited a conspiracy theory, that does not make it automatically true.
How to be a sensible, discerning truth seeker
The stigma and distaste towards truth seekers in modern times can be seen all over social media by so-called “skeptics” who are busy defending official narratives. Part of this stigma is because of the many social media voices who postulate long conspiracy theories using alarming language, expressing a level of certainty without any solid evidence to back it up. These people aren’t exhibiting real truth seeking, and could be called “alarmists”. All over social media, you will see arguments between the alarmists and the skeptics. Both are totally convinced of their views, rarely open to new information or having a civilized debate.
Part of the problem is that the internet is an endless gauntlet of information, and it’s very difficult to determine what’s true and what’s completely made up. Which information is legitimate, and what is just smoke and mirrors? It’s actually extremely challenging and time consuming to verify information and come to an absolutely correct conclusion, and there is so much information available that no matter what someone is inclined to believe, they can find “information” to support their viewpoint. The most important quality to cultivate in the Age of Information is an open, curious, questioning mind. There are some things we will never be able to find out for sure, so maintaining an open mind is paramount.
This is where instinct and personal experience come in. There are many people who just know, instinctively or through personal experience, that EMF saturated environments are not healthy for them. They may feel it physically in their bodies as pain or impaired functioning, or their mental clarity or mood will worsen. They may get headaches on the side of their head they hold their phone up to while they’re using it, then the headache switches sides if they change ears (or subsides when the call is done). For those who consistently experience a decline in well-being and performance around EMFs, the studies and proof don’t even matter, because the end goal is to feel good and be healthy.
Overemphasis on hard truths and having absolute, definitive proof can keep you in a state of uncertainty and inaction. If you wait for a hundred definitive studies to be published that absolutely, without a doubt declare that something is harmful, instead of trusting your instincts and taking action in the meantime, you may end up with health issues from assuming that something is “safe until proven harmful”.
The tech industry takes advantage of this uncertainty – their declaration for many years now, no matter how many studies come out on the harm of EMFs, has been, “We don’t have enough information; more studies will need to be done.” In the meantime, while science is impotent because there’s “never enough” studies, the tech industry continues to roll out new technology, add more cell towers and sell the public on every kind of “smart” appliance imaginable. You can bet that if regulatory committees had strict safety requirements, where the product safety studies have to be completed and publicly reviewed before the product is ever on the market, these tech companies would shape up really quick.
Fact checkers don’t help
A phenomenon that has risen up in response to the continuous increase of available (and conflicting) information is websites known as “fact checkers”. There are several popular ones in use right now, and they all insist they are completely neutral and unbiased, and claim to reliably get to the bottom of issues and clear up misinformation and “fake news”. Basically, they are claiming that among the mass of conflicting information on the internet, we can rely on them for the truth.
The inherent problem with fact checkers is that a lot of things can’t be easily verified with absolute certainty, and their commitment to labeling something True or False necessitates that they rush to a conclusion as soon as possible after a story hits public awareness. The truth is almost always more nuanced, and less available, than people would like it to be. Since they are in such haste to be the source of the ultimate truth, the appropriate depth of research cannot be done, and conclusions are premature and often skewed subconsciously towards the writer’s personal bias.
Critics of the popular fact checker websites claim that they are politically biased, and this is likely true to an extent. What is definitely true is that they are biased towards the official narrative – partially because it’s the most readily available version of the “truth”, and also because in mainstream society, having a view that conflicts with the official story tarnishes your credibility and reputation. It’s peer pressure, and for these writers to be seen by their colleagues as credible, they generally need to agree with the most popular version of an event (or slight variations that are socially acceptable).
This bias towards the official story can sometimes favor left-wing views, as for example, the left is more likely to believe that vaccines are safe and effective, and with the government making increasingly authoritarian laws. Sometimes it favors the right, who are more likely to accept pesticide use on crops and using genetically modified seeds, and are more likely to side with the telecommunications industry about cell phone radiation being harmless. So it’s not as much about taking political sides, and it is now widely believed that the mainstream left and the mainstream right are both distractions from larger prevailing issues that are still widely ignored.
Compilations of studies on the harms of EMFs
Contrary to the telecommunications industry’s constant pronouncement of “we don’t have enough definitive studies” to know whether EMFs are harmful, there are plenty of studies showing the harms of electromagnetic fields from various artificial sources of various frequencies and amplitudes. However, most people don’t know how to read and interpret studies, and mostly look to conventional news sources or government agencies to deliver the verdicts to them, which is absolutely not happening in an honest way, or at all.
The most condemning example to date is the government commissioned, 10-year long, $30 million dollar National Toxicology Program cell phone radiation study. It was done on rodents, because in scientific experiments, rodents are especially useful because they respond in very similar ways to external stimulus as humans, but you can see results much more quickly since their lifespans are shorter and therefore accelerated. The study, and the official peer review panel, unsurprisingly found “clear evidence” of certain types of cancers and DNA damage in a notable percentage of the rodents. The government agencies that commissioned the study initially seemed stunned and caught off guard at the results, and admitted needing to look more into this. A couple years later, their tune had changed. Now they state they are not concerned, because the study was done on rodents and the results can’t be accurately transferred to humans, which is a blatantly contradictory statement, as the study was specifically designed in the first place so that it could be clearly interpreted as relevant to humans!

A couple years ago, results from another large, long-term study at the Ramazzini Institute in Italy were published that replicate the results of the NTP study. This study on over 2,400 rodents also found central and peripheral nervous system cancers (specifically gliomas and schwannomas) from exposure to radiofrequency radiation. Scientists aware of the results of both studies are strongly recommending that the IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer) reclassify radiofrequency radiation from “possible” to a “probable” human carcinogen.
Although these are the most obvious examples we know of, there are plenty more. Notably, independent studies tend to show a higher percentage of incriminating results against EMFs than industry- and government-funded studies. This shows that even scientific studies can be manipulated by the results that the funders most want to see, and the scientists themselves have only some control over how they design their studies and report their findings. A few studies show debatably positive effects (mainly anti-inflammatory effects due to suppression of immune response) of certain types of EMFs, which points out that the biological response to electromagnetics is complex and depends on many factors (such as frequency and duration of exposure), but it also shows that whether positive or negative, we are definitely affected by them.
There are several websites with compilations and summaries of EMF studies. EMF Portal is a great resource, and is continually updated with new studies. The Bioinitiative Report summarizes EMF studies in categories of their various affects on health. 23 studies have confirmed Dr. Martin Pall’s findings that one major mechanism of (mostly harmful) biological effects from EMFs is their action on the voltage-gated calcium channels in each of our cells, causing calcium channel flooding which can cause a myriad of health issues. A recent article by Children’s Health Defense elaborates thoroughly on studies showing EMF harm, and how the FCC is ignoring and disregarding this information vital to the health of the world’s population.
Conclusion
Electromagnetic fields absolutely can and do have harmful effects on humans and other life forms. We think this is mainly because of their repetitive oscillating frequencies, which overstimulate our cells. Nature produces its own EMFs, but they are a constantly varying symphony of different frequencies at different amplitudes, never repeating themselves exactly. When human societies allow pacification and unquestioned belief in authority seep into their peoples’ minds, this is just asking for large scale abuses of power to take advantage of a weak minded populace and steer their fate in a dangerous direction.
Let’s not let our minds weaken and allow America to fall from the liberty-minded values it was founded on, and into a dominating and authoritarian police state. Have eternal vigilance.
